Draperies or Curtains
General Information:
- DRAPERIES are defined as a panel, or panels, of fabric that cover the entire window, or they may be simply decorative stationary treatments used to frame the window
- There are common and accepted terms used by professionals that say, any time the word “drapery” is used, it is expected that the panels will have some kind of constructed top
- Always state if draperies will be WORKING or STATIONARY. WORKING; draperies will open and close by means of a traversing rod or hand baton. STATIONARY (side hangs); draperies fixed or non-working (set-up for decorative purposes only)
- Always clearly specify if the draperies are to be LINED, UNLINED or INTERLINED and specify the TYPE of lining to be used. If no lining is specified, our stock poly-cotton sateen white will be used
Features:
- Matched from the TOP of the drapery down
- Matched from seam to seam when the fabric allows
- Color matched thread and hand sewn corners
- Heading styles are as described in the listing
- All seams and corners are weighted at the bottom
- Fan folded unless flat folding is specified
- Products are packaged in plastic for delivery, shipping, or installation
- Bottom hem; 4” double turned, machine blind stitched
- Side hems; 1-1/2” double turned, machine blind stitched
Pricing:
- Draperies are priced per width of fabric, based on any fabric 48”-54”. For wider fabrics see below
- Fabrics wider than 48”-54” will need to be converted into billable widths in order to find the labor cost. To convert to billable widths, divide the flat fabric width by 54. For example, if the fabric is 118” wide and two widths will be seamed together, the flat width is 236”. 236”÷ 54 = 4.370, round up = 5 widths. The billable widths are 5
- Banding, trims, tabs, and similar items added to draperies are ADD-ONS. Add-ons are charged separately from the per-width base charge
- Interlining, black out lining, difficult fabrics, beaded weight, grommets, memory stitch, pattern placement, and other similar sur-charge items priced as workroom details and are charged separately
