Large Bottom Hem
Sometimes it works to add a large bottom hem to the drapery. For this job the designer requested the strips to be vertical. The challenge was the fabric was a seamless fabric of 118″ shown railroaded (stripes vertical) and the drapery finished length was 134″

Solution:
Sew additional fabric along the bottom of approx 23″ and double it for a double 23″ hem. The challenge was the strips had to be sewn perfectly for match. To make this happen we straighten the bottom, cut additional cloth of 48″ straight , folded in half , then press. Then serge to the bottom of sheer. Then we table the drapery to the finish length from the bottom up.

The best part we set the hem size based on the trim molding in the window so it looked as if it was intended.

To find the exact placement of the hem, we used Auto CAD. This also helped with calculating the finished length of drapery and rod placement.
